The Bakery/Asst Dept Leader at Kroger is a dynamic leadership role within the bakery department of our grocery stores. This position supports the Bakery Department Leader in overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining the highest standards of product quality and freshness. As an Assistant Department Leader, you will assist in managing a team of bakery associates, driving sales through merchandising and promotions, and contributing to the overall success of the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise bakery production, including baking, decorating, and packaging of fresh breads, cakes, pastries, and other baked goods.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage, handling, and labeling of products.
• Assist in inventory management, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste to control costs.
• Train and coach team members on baking techniques, customer service, and operational procedures.
• Drive sales by creating attractive displays, implementing promotions, and engaging customers with product recommendations.

Customer Focus

Deliver outstanding service by greeting customers, addressing inquiries, and fulfilling special orders for custom cakes and desserts. Collaborate with other departments to support store-wide initiatives.

Leadership and Development

Support scheduling, performance evaluations, and fostering a positive team environment. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to department goals. This role requires flexibility, including weekends and holidays, in a fast-paced retail setting.
