Job Overview

The Bakery/Deli Clerk at Kroger plays a vital role in our fresh food departments, ensuring customers receive high-quality bakery and deli products with exceptional service. This position involves preparing, stocking, and presenting a variety of fresh-baked goods, deli meats, cheeses, salads, and prepared meals. You will interact directly with customers to assist with selections, answer questions, and provide recommendations to enhance their shopping experience. Maintaining a clean and organized department is key, following all food safety and sanitation standards to deliver safe, fresh products daily.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and package bakery items such as breads, cakes, pastries, and deli products including sliced meats, cheeses, and salads.
• Stock shelves and display cases with fresh products, ensuring attractive presentation and proper rotation to minimize waste.
• Operate equipment like slicers, ovens, and scales safely and efficiently.
• Provide friendly customer service, including order fulfillment for special requests like custom cakes or party platters.
• Maintain cleanliness by sanitizing work areas, equipment, and surfaces according to health regulations.

Skills and Qualifications

Ideal candidates have strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Basic food handling knowledge is preferred, with on-the-job training provided. Physical stamina is required for standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and repetitive tasks.
