Job Overview

The Bakery/Deli Clerk at Kroger plays a vital role in our grocery stores by preparing, stocking, and serving high-quality bakery and deli products to customers. Bakery/Deli Clerks handle a variety of tasks including baking fresh goods, slicing meats and cheeses, assembling deli platters, and maintaining sanitary conditions in accordance with food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and display bakery items such as breads, cakes, pastries, and donuts to meet daily production goals.
• Slice deli meats, cheeses, and other products using specialized equipment while adhering to portion control and hygiene protocols.
• Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas, including cleaning slicers, ovens, display cases, and refrigeration units.
• Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock to ensure freshness, and report shortages to management.
• Operate department equipment safely, such as ovens, proofers, mixers, and wrapping machines.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Physical stamina is required for standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and frequent bending. Food handling experience is preferred, and all associates must complete Kroger's food safety training.
