Job Overview

The Bakery/Deli Clerk at Kroger is a vital role in our grocery stores, responsible for preparing, displaying, and serving high-quality bakery and deli products to ensure customer satisfaction. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment, handling fresh baked goods, deli meats, cheeses, salads, and prepared meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and stock bakery items such as breads, cakes, pastries, and donuts, ensuring attractive displays.
• Slice deli meats, cheeses, and other products using specialized equipment while adhering to portion control and hygiene protocols.
• Assist customers with product selection, recommendations, and special orders, providing excellent service.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and display cases, following Kroger's sanitation standards.
• Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock to prevent spoilage, and report shortages to management.
• Operate department equipment safely, including ovens, slicers, and wrapping machines.
• Support team efforts during peak hours and contribute to store merchandising initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays. Physical stamina is required for standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and repetitive tasks. Food handling experience is preferred.
