Job Overview

The Bakery/Deli Clerk at Kroger plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards in our fresh bakery and deli departments. This position involves preparing, stocking, and presenting a variety of fresh-baked goods, deli meats, cheeses, salads, and ready-to-eat meals to ensure customers enjoy the best shopping experience. Key Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting bakery and deli products, offering recommendations and answering questions about ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods.
• Prepare and package deli items such as sliced meats, cheeses, and salads, following precise portioning and presentation guidelines.
• Bake, decorate, and stock bakery items including breads, cakes, pastries, and donuts to maintain freshness and visual appeal.
• Ensure compliance with health and sanitation standards, including proper food handling, temperature control, and cleaning of work areas and equipment.
• Operate department equipment such as slicers, ovens, mixers, and scales safely and efficiently.
• Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock using FIFO method, and report shortages to management for timely replenishment.
• Support promotional activities by building attractive displays and sampling products to boost sales.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates should have strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Physical stamina is required for standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and frequent bending. Food handling experience is preferred, with willingness to obtain food safety certification.

Work Environment

This role involves working in a cool, humid bakery/deli area with exposure to flour, allergens, and strong odors. Flexible scheduling includes weekends, evenings, and holidays. Kroger provides comprehensive training to ensure success in this rewarding position.
