Job Overview

The Bakery/Deli Clerk at Kroger plays a vital role in our fresh food departments, ensuring customers receive high-quality bakery and deli products with exceptional service. This position involves preparing, stocking, and presenting a variety of fresh-baked goods, deli meats, cheeses, salads, and ready-to-eat meals. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and package bakery items such as cakes, pastries, breads, and deli products including sliced meats, cheeses, and salads.
• Stock shelves and display cases, rotating products to ensure freshness and compliance with FIFO (First In, First Out) standards.
• Provide friendly customer service, answering questions, suggesting pairings, and fulfilling special requests.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, adhering to food safety regulations and health department guidelines.
• Operate equipment like slicers, ovens, and scales safely and efficiently.
• Assist with inventory management, checking expiration dates, and minimizing waste.
• Support promotional activities, sampling events, and department merchandising.

Skills and Qualifications

Ideal candidates have strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a refrigerated environment. Physical stamina is required for lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods. Food handling experience is preferred. Kroger provides training for all associates.
