Job Overview

The Bakery/Deli Clerk at Kroger is a vital role in our grocery stores, responsible for preparing, displaying, and serving high-quality bakery and deli products to ensure customer satisfaction. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment, handling fresh baked goods, deli meats, cheeses, salads, and prepared meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and stock bakery items such as breads, cakes, pastries, and deli products including sliced meats, cheeses, and salads.
• Provide exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers, answering questions, and recommending products.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of bakery and deli departments, including display cases, slicers, and work areas.
• Follow all food safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of perishable items to prevent contamination.
• Operate equipment such as ovens, slicers, and scales accurately and safely.
• Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock to ensure freshness, and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals and support store promotions.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should have strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical stamina is required for standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and repetitive tasks. Prior experience in food service or retail is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training is provided.
