Job Overview

The Bakery/Deli Clerk at Kroger plays a vital role in our grocery stores by preparing, stocking, and serving high-quality bakery and deli products to customers. Bakery/Deli Clerks handle a variety of tasks including baking fresh goods, slicing meats and cheeses, assembling deli platters, and maintaining sanitary conditions in accordance with food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and display bakery items such as breads, cakes, pastries, and donuts to attract customers.
• Slice deli meats, cheeses, and other products using specialized equipment while adhering to portion control and hygiene protocols.
• Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
• Maintain department cleanliness, including cleaning counters, display cases, and equipment after each use.
• Stock shelves and cases with fresh products, rotate inventory to ensure quality, and monitor expiration dates.
• Operate cash registers, process transactions, and provide excellent customer service during peak hours.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Physical stamina is required for standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and handling perishable goods. Food handling certification or willingness to obtain one is preferred.
