Job Overview

The Bakery/Deli Clerk at Kroger plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards in our fresh bakery and deli departments. This position involves preparing, stocking, and presenting a variety of bakery and deli products to ensure customer satisfaction and drive sales. Associates will interact directly with customers, assist with special orders, and uphold food safety protocols in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and package bakery items such as cakes, pastries, breads, and deli meats, cheeses, salads, and hot foods.
• Stock shelves and display cases with fresh products, ensuring attractive presentation and proper rotation to minimize waste.
• Provide friendly customer service, answer questions about products, recommend pairings, and process special orders.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and display cases according to health and safety standards.
• Operate equipment like slicers, ovens, and scales safely and efficiently.
• Monitor inventory levels, assist with receiving deliveries, and report shortages to management.
• Follow all food safety guidelines, including proper labeling, temperature control, and expiration date management.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates should have strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team. Physical stamina is required for standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in varying temperatures. Previous experience in food handling or retail is preferred. Kroger provides training for all associates.
