Job Overview

The Bakery/Deli Clerk at Kroger plays a vital role in our fresh food departments, ensuring customers receive high-quality bakery and deli products with exceptional service. This position involves preparing, stocking, and presenting a variety of fresh-baked goods, deli meats, cheeses, salads, and ready-to-eat meals. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and package bakery items such as cakes, pastries, breads, and deli specialties including sliced meats, cheeses, and salads.
• Stock shelves and display cases with fresh products, rotating stock to ensure optimal freshness and minimize waste.
• Operate equipment like slicers, ovens, and scales safely and efficiently while adhering to food safety standards.
• Provide friendly customer service, answer questions about ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery/deli area, including sanitation of surfaces, equipment, and storage areas.

Skills and Qualifications

Ideal candidates have strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Basic food handling knowledge is preferred, with on-the-job training provided. Physical stamina is required for standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and frequent bending. Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
