Job Overview

The Bakery/Deli Clerk at Kroger is a vital role in our grocery stores, responsible for preparing, stocking, and serving high-quality bakery and deli products to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment, handling fresh baked goods, deli meats, cheeses, salads, and prepared meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and package bakery items such as breads, cakes, pastries, and deli products including sliced meats, cheeses, and salads.
• Stock shelves and display cases with fresh products, ensuring attractive merchandising and rotation to minimize waste.
• Provide friendly customer service, offering product recommendations, answering questions, and assisting with special orders.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and display cases in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Operate equipment like slicers, ovens, and scales safely and efficiently.
• Monitor inventory levels, receive deliveries, and report shortages to management.
• Follow all food handling procedures to prevent contamination and ensure product freshness.

Skills and Qualifications

Ideal candidates have strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical stamina is required for standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and repetitive tasks. Previous experience in food service or retail is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training is provided.
