Job Overview

The Beer-Wine-Liquor/Specialty Wine Steward at Kroger is a key role in our grocery division, responsible for curating and managing an exceptional selection of beer, wine, and liquor products. This position combines sales expertise, product knowledge, and customer service to drive sales and enhance the shopping experience in our alcohol and specialty wine departments. The steward advises customers on pairings, hosts tastings, and ensures compliance with all state and federal alcohol regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee inventory management for beer, wine, and spirits, including ordering, stocking, and merchandising to maximize visual appeal and sales.
• Provide expert recommendations to customers on wine pairings, craft beers, and premium liquors based on tastes, occasions, and budgets.
• Conduct in-store tastings and events to promote specialty products and build customer loyalty.
• Maintain strict adherence to alcohol sales laws, age verification, and store policies.
• Collaborate with department managers to analyze sales trends and introduce new products.

Skills and Qualifications

Ideal candidates possess strong knowledge of alcoholic beverages, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for the industry. Previous retail or hospitality experience is preferred. This role requires physical stamina for lifting cases and standing for extended periods, as well as availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays typical in retail environments.
