The Cheese Shop/Clerk position at Kroger is an essential role in our Specialty Cheese Department, where you will provide exceptional customer service while managing a diverse selection of premium cheeses, artisanal products, and related gourmet items. As a key team member in one of America's largest grocery retailers, you will assist customers in selecting the perfect cheeses for their needs, offer tastings, and educate on pairings, origins, and storage tips to enhance their shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and provide personalized recommendations on cheese varieties, including domestic, imported, and specialty options.
• Maintain an impeccably clean and organized cheese display case, ensuring products are rotated, labeled accurately, and presented attractively to drive sales.
• Slice, weigh, and package cheeses using precise cutting techniques and sanitary practices to meet food safety standards.
• Operate department equipment such as scales, slicers, and wrapping machines efficiently and safely.
• Assist with inventory management, including receiving deliveries, stocking shelves, and monitoring product freshness to minimize waste.
• Collaborate with department leads to execute promotions, build cheese platters, and participate in in-store events or tastings.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We seek enthusiastic individuals with a passion for food, particularly cheese and gourmet products. Strong interpersonal skills are crucial for engaging diverse customers, from home cooks to culinary enthusiasts. Knowledge of cheese types, aging processes, and flavor profiles is a plus. This role requires physical stamina for standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in a refrigerated environment.
