Job Overview

The Cheese Shop/Lead Clerk at Kroger is a leadership role within the specialty cheese department of our grocery stores. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the cheese shop team in daily tasks including stocking, slicing, and displaying premium cheeses.
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations to customers on cheese selections, wine pairings, and recipe ideas.
• Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and minimize waste through proper rotation and storage techniques.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, and compliant cheese shop display that meets Kroger's merchandising standards.
• Train and mentor junior staff on product knowledge, safety protocols, and customer service best practices.

Customer Focus

Deliver outstanding service by assisting customers with personalized shopping experiences, handling special orders, and resolving issues promptly. Promote seasonal cheese features and upsell complementary products to drive department sales.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates should have prior retail or food service experience, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for gourmet foods. Knowledge of cheese varieties, food safety (ServSafe certification preferred), and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs is essential. This role requires flexibility for varying shifts including weekends and holidays in a fast-paced grocery environment.
