Job Overview

The Deli/Asst Dept Leader at Kroger is a key leadership role in the deli department, supporting the Department Leader in all aspects of deli operations. The Asst Dept Leader assists in supervising associates, maintaining inventory, and driving sales while upholding Kroger's commitment to freshness, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in leading the deli team to meet daily sales goals and service standards.
• Oversee food preparation, including slicing meats, cheeses, and preparing salads and hot foods.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper sanitation and food handling practices.
• Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimize waste to control costs.
• Provide training and coaching to deli associates on product knowledge and customer service techniques.
• Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and promote deli products to increase sales.
• Monitor department presentation, including merchandising displays and stock rotation.
• Collaborate with other departments to support store-wide promotions and events.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates should have prior retail or food service experience, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences. Knowledge of deli products and food safety is essential. This role requires flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
