Job Overview

The Deli/Coffee Shop Barista at Kroger is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while preparing high-quality coffee beverages, deli items, and maintaining a clean, inviting department environment. This role combines barista expertise with deli operations in a fast-paced grocery retail setting, ensuring customers enjoy fresh, delicious products daily.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, including espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and iced beverages, adhering to Kroger's quality standards.
• Handle deli operations such as slicing meats and cheeses, assembling sandwiches, salads, and hot foods with speed and precision.
• Engage customers with friendly service, recommend products, and upsell specials to enhance the shopping experience.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop and deli counters, following food safety and sanitation protocols.
• Operate equipment like espresso machines, grinders, slicers, and ovens safely and efficiently.
• Restock inventory, monitor expiration dates, and assist with merchandising displays to drive sales.
• Process transactions accurately using POS systems and handle cash, credit, and digital payments.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates should have prior experience in food service or retail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to multitask in a busy environment. Knowledge of coffee preparation and food handling is preferred. Kroger provides training for success in this role.

Work Environment
