Job Overview

The Deli/Coffee Shop Barista at Kroger is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while preparing and serving high-quality deli items and coffee beverages in a fast-paced grocery store environment. This role combines food preparation, customer interaction, and maintaining a clean, inviting deli/coffee shop area to enhance the shopping experience for Kroger guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, including espresso-based beverages, lattes, cappuccinos, and drip coffee, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
• Handle deli orders such as sandwiches, salads, and hot foods, following food safety standards and portion guidelines.
• Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and recommend menu items to upsell products and increase sales.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the deli/coffee shop area, including equipment sanitation, stocking supplies, and adhering to health regulations.
• Operate cash registers, process transactions, and handle cash/credit payments efficiently.
• Monitor inventory levels for coffee beans, milk, syrups, deli meats, cheeses, and other perishables, notifying management of reorder needs.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours and assist in merchandising displays to attract customers.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong customer service skills, basic food handling knowledge, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic retail setting. Prior experience in food service or hospitality is preferred. Kroger provides training for barista techniques and deli operations.

Work Environment
