Job Overview

The Facilities Engineering/Fuel Technician 2 (FAC ENG/FUEL TECH 2) position at Kroger is a critical role within our Facilities Engineering team, focused on maintaining and optimizing fuel systems across our retail locations. This full-time position involves hands-on technical work to ensure the safe, efficient operation of fuel dispensers, underground storage tanks, and related infrastructure. Reporting to the Facilities Engineering Supervisor, the Fuel Tech 2 collaborates with maintenance teams to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and comply with environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and repairs on fuel pumps, nozzles, and containment systems to prevent leaks and ensure operational reliability.
  • Perform leak detection tests, tank tightness assessments, and corrosion protection checks in accordance with EPA and state regulations.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues in fuel delivery systems using diagnostic tools and schematics.
  • Install, upgrade, and retrofit fuel equipment, including vapor recovery systems and point-of-sale integrations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, fuel inventories, and compliance documentation using CMMS software.
  • Respond to emergency service calls for fuel system failures, minimizing downtime at Kroger fuel centers.
  • Coordinate with vendors for parts procurement and specialized repairs while adhering to safety protocols.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates must possess strong technical aptitude, a valid driver's license, and experience with fuel systems. This role requires physical stamina for fieldwork, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various weather conditions.
