Job Overview

The Grocery/Asst Dept Leader at Kroger is a dynamic leadership role responsible for supporting the Grocery Department Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving sales performance in a fast-paced retail environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining department standards, managing inventory, and leading a team of associates to deliver high-quality fresh and packaged grocery products to customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising and scheduling grocery department staff to ensure adequate coverage and optimal performance.
• Monitor and maintain product displays, freshness standards, and inventory levels to maximize sales and minimize waste.
• Provide outstanding customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and recommending products.
• Implement merchandising strategies, including planograms and promotional setups, to enhance department appeal.
• Conduct inventory audits, order supplies, and manage receiving processes to support efficient operations.
• Train and develop team members on safety protocols, company policies, and best practices in grocery handling.
• Analyze sales data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement and report findings to department leadership.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations in all department activities.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates should have prior retail or grocery experience, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for customer satisfaction. Excellent organizational skills and knowledge of inventory management systems are essential. This role requires the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in a physically demanding environment involving lifting up to 50 lbs.
