Job Overview

The Layton Dough Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic at Kroger plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation of our dough production facility in Layton. This position involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and maintain high production standards. As part of Kroger's manufacturing division, you will work in a fast-paced environment, supporting the production of quality baked goods for our retail stores across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on dough mixers, ovens, conveyors, and packaging machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to resolve production issues promptly.
• Utilize diagnostic tools, blueprints, and schematics to identify and fix equipment malfunctions.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and installation of new equipment as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and repairs in compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance during low-impact periods.
• Ensure all work adheres to OSHA, FDA, and Kroger safety protocols in a food manufacturing setting.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must have strong technical aptitude, with at least 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in food manufacturing. Knowledge of PLC programming, electrical systems up to 480V, and mechanical troubleshooting is essential. Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in varying temperatures, and stand for extended periods is required. A high school diploma or GED is minimum, with vocational training or certification in maintenance mechanics highly preferred.
