Job Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic 3rd Shift position at Kroger involves performing skilled maintenance and repair work on manufacturing and facility equipment to ensure continuous operation of our distribution centers and stores. This critical role supports Kroger's commitment to operational excellence by minimizing downtime and maintaining high safety standards during overnight hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on conveyor belts, forklifts, refrigeration units, and other industrial equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, inspections, and adjustments to extend equipment life.
• Troubleshoot issues using diagnostic tools, blueprints, and schematics to resolve breakdowns efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts usage, and maintenance logs in CMMS software.
• Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance during minimal disruption periods on the 3rd shift (typically 10 PM - 6 AM).
• Install new equipment and modify existing systems to improve efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with industrial tools, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of PLC programming and welding is advantageous. This role requires physical stamina for lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in various conditions.
