Job Overview

The Meat/Cutter Clerk at Kroger is a vital role in our grocery division, responsible for preparing, cutting, and displaying high-quality meat products to meet customer needs. Meat/Cutter Clerks collaborate with the team to provide exceptional service, handle inventory, and adhere to food safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately cut and trim meat products including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood according to customer specifications and store standards.
• Wrap, label, and price meat items using proper equipment and techniques to ensure freshness and compliance with health regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organized meat case, rotating stock to minimize waste and maximize product quality.
• Assist customers with meat selections, offering advice on cuts, preparation methods, and recipes to enhance shopping experience.
• Follow all sanitation and safety guidelines, including proper handling, storage temperatures, and hygiene practices to prevent contamination.
• Receive, inspect, and store meat deliveries, checking for quality and reporting any discrepancies to management.
• Operate meat processing equipment such as grinders, slicers, and saws safely and efficiently.
• Support inventory management by tracking stock levels and assisting with ordering as needed.
• Contribute to department goals by upselling specialty items and promoting seasonal meat promotions.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong knife skills, knowledge of meat cuts, and the ability to work in a refrigerated environment. Physical stamina is required for standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and repetitive tasks. Prior retail or food handling experience is preferred.

Work Environment

This role involves working in a cool meat department with exposure to cold temperatures. Flexible scheduling includes weekends, evenings, and holidays. Kroger provides training for safe meat handling and customer service excellence.
