The Meat/Journeyman position at Kroger is a skilled role within the Meat Department, responsible for cutting, preparing, and merchandising high-quality meat products to meet customer needs. Key Responsibilities

• Accurately cut and trim meat products including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood according to customer specifications and department standards.
• Operate meat processing equipment such as grinders, slicers, and saws safely and efficiently.
• Wrap, label, and display meat products to maximize sales appeal and ensure compliance with sanitation guidelines.
• Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and assist in ordering to prevent shortages or waste.
• Provide expert customer service by offering advice on meat selection, preparation, and cooking methods.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to USDA and Kroger hygiene standards.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should possess intermediate butchery skills, including knife handling and meat fabrication. Prior experience in a retail meat department is preferred, along with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Certification in food safety is a plus.
