Job Overview

The Meat/Journeyman position at Kroger is a skilled role within the Meat Department, responsible for processing, cutting, preparing, and merchandising high-quality meat products to meet customer needs and company standards. This position requires hands-on expertise in meat handling, sanitation, and customer service in a fast-paced grocery retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately cut, trim, grind, and prepare meat products including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood according to customer specifications and Kroger quality standards.
• Ensure proper labeling, pricing, wrapping, and display of meat products to maximize sales and freshness.
• Maintain department cleanliness and compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including USDA guidelines.
• Provide exceptional customer service by offering product recommendations, answering questions, and assisting with special orders.
• Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and minimize waste through efficient ordering and handling practices.
• Operate meat department equipment such as slicers, grinders, and scales safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with department team members and store management to achieve sales goals and uphold Kroger's commitment to quality.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must have prior experience in meat processing or a related field, strong knowledge of meat cuts and food safety, and the ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
