Job Overview

The Meat/Meat Cutter position at Kroger involves skilled preparation and cutting of meat products to meet customer demands in a fast-paced grocery environment. Meat Cutters ensure high-quality standards, food safety, and efficient service in the meat department.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately cut, trim, and prepare fresh meat products including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood according to customer specifications and store standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and tools to comply with health and safety regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers with meat selections, offering product recommendations, and answering questions about cuts and preparation.
• Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock to ensure freshness, and assist in ordering supplies to prevent shortages.
• Operate meat processing equipment such as grinders, slicers, and saws safely and efficiently.
• Follow all food safety protocols, including proper temperature control, labeling, and storage of perishable items.
• Collaborate with department team members to meet daily sales goals and merchandising displays.
• Perform opening and closing duties, including setup of display cases and end-of-day cleaning.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should have strong knife skills, knowledge of meat cuts, and the ability to work in a refrigerated environment. Physical stamina is required for lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods. Prior experience in a meat department or butcher shop is preferred.
