Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately cut, grind, and prepare meat products including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood according to customer specifications and store standards.
• Ensure all meat displays are attractive, properly labeled, and stocked with fresh products to drive sales.
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper storage temperatures and cleaning of equipment.
• Assist customers with product selection, recommendations, and special orders to enhance the shopping experience.
• Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and minimize waste through efficient trimming and portion control.
• Operate meat processing equipment such as saws, grinders, and slicers safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with department team members and management to meet daily sales goals and merchandising plans.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should have prior experience in meat cutting or butchery, strong knife skills, and knowledge of meat grading and primal cuts. Physical stamina is required for standing long hours and lifting heavy loads up to 50 lbs. A commitment to food safety, customer service, and teamwork is essential. Kroger provides training for certified meat cutters.
