Job Overview

The MFG Plant Senior Operations Leader at Kroger plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. This leadership position ensures efficient production processes, high product quality, and adherence to safety standards across Kroger's extensive network of plants producing private label goods, dairy, bakery items, and more. Reporting to the Plant General Manager, you will drive operational excellence, optimize resource utilization, and lead teams to meet production targets while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all plant operations including production scheduling, inventory management, and quality control.
  • Lead a diverse team of operators, supervisors, and maintenance staff, providing coaching, performance evaluations, and development opportunities.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, OSHA, and Kroger's stringent food safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, and corporate teams to align production with corporate objectives.
  • Monitor KPIs such as OEE, downtime, yield rates, and labor efficiency, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage capital projects, equipment upgrades, and facility maintenance budgets.
  • Drive safety initiatives, conduct audits, and promote a zero-incident workplace.

Qualifications and Skills

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of manufacturing operations experience, with proven leadership in food or consumer goods production. A bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or related field is required; advanced degrees or certifications (CPIM, CSCP) preferred. Strong analytical skills, ERP system proficiency (SAP preferred), and a track record of scaling operations are essential.   • Manage $5M+ annual operating budget, capital expenditures, and inventory optimization
  • Collaborate with corporate supply chain for demand forecasting and raw material procurement
