Warehouse Sanitor Job Description

The Warehouse Sanitor (also known as Warehouse/Porter) at Kroger plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse environment. This position ensures that all areas of the distribution center, including storage zones, loading docks, equipment, and common spaces, meet the highest standards of hygiene and compliance with food safety regulations. As a key member of the supply chain team, the Sanitor supports daily operations by performing thorough cleaning tasks, removing debris, sanitizing surfaces, and preparing the facility for inventory management and order fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing of warehouse floors to prevent contamination.
• Clean and sanitize pallets, racks, conveyors, and forklifts used in product handling.
• Empty trash receptacles, dispose of waste properly, and maintain recycling programs.
• Assist in deep cleaning during scheduled maintenance periods and after spills or accidents.
• Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, reporting shortages to supervisors.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates should have prior experience in janitorial or warehouse cleaning roles, with a strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in teams. Physical stamina is essential, as the role involves lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in varying temperatures. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and proper use of cleaning chemicals is required. Kroger provides training on company-specific protocols.
