Job Description: 

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Maintenance Trades Helper in its Norfolk VA location. The Maintenance Trades Helper (MTH) will assist one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades.

Essential Functions:

• Perform maintenance and handling on submarine vertical launch system (VLS) equipment and components.
• Assist by performing specific or general duties such as: keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools, cleaning working area, machine, and equipment; assisting journeyman by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by journeyman.
• Supply, lift, and hold materials and tools, and cleaning working areas and in others,
• Perform specialized machine operations, or parts of a trade that are also performed by workers on a full-time basis.
• Perform work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, grinding, sanding, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welder support.

Qualifications: 

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 0 to 3 years of prior related experience.
• Ablility to obtain a Secret security clearance which requires US Citizenship
• Must possess a valid driver license
• Ability to comprehend and perform detailed written maintenance procedures under direct supervision
• Must be comfortable driving vehicles while towing trailers.
• Must be able to obtain medical clearance for respirator use
• Must be able to obtain clearance for Naval Station access without escort.
• Should be physically able to move through a ship, shipyard and dry-dock, climbing ladders, and staging, capable of lifting and carrying components up to fifty pounds on submarines and surface ships. 

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Previous forklift operator experience preferred 
• US Passport
