Job Desription:

Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project management. Manages large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction. Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Makes significant improvements in processes, systems, or products. Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to plan and direct offshore cable installation.
  • Oversee deck operations required in the installation of cabled ocean sensors. 
  • Provide customer support through the performance of on-site installation, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems.
  • Check out and approves operational quality of system equipment.
  • Instruct customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.
  • Serve as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.
  • Interpret customers' needs and clarifies if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to sales personnel, customer support reps, or engineers.
  • Responsible for the design, layout, testing and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems.
  • Prepare design specifications, analysis and recommendations for presentation and approval.
  • Analyze mechanical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Investigate solutions to product or process problems.
  • Consolidates results of mechanical design elements for assigned projects.
  • Conduct investigations involving the origination or modification of material, component or process specifications or requirements.
  • Perform product development activities including drawing board layout and interpretation/implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods (2-3 weeks).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. 
  • Desired experience, training or degrees include: marine or mechanical engineering, vessel operation as captain or mate, deck rigging operations and planning, vessel navigation.
  • Ablity to generate technical proposals and installation plans. 
  • Familiar with CAD program (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.). 
  • Experience in offshore construction.
  • Familiarity with DOD contracts.
  • Ability to obtain a US DOD Secret Clearance which requries US Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

  • Familiar with offshore operations.
  • Experience in dive-related activities
  • Active US. DOD Secret security clearance.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $103,500- 192,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays.
