Role Overview

Reporting to Internal Engineering leadership, you'll manage 3-4 engineers while contributing directly to codebases using MongoDB, Python, Go, and modern full-stack technologies.

Based in Gurugram for our hybrid model, you'll design internal tooling, fix production bugs, and deliver features that impact thousands of MongoDB users worldwide. This is player-coach leadership at a company redefining databases for the AI era.

Key Responsibilities at MongoDB

• Lead a team of 3-4 software engineers through planning, execution, and delivery cycles
• Contribute 50%+ hands-on code to internal platforms and tooling
• Collaborate with TechOps and Product teams to prioritize maximum-impact work
• Design scalable architectures using MongoDB NoSQL and modern languages
• Mentor engineers on best practices, code quality, and career growth
• Build full-stack applications from React UIs to FastAPI backends and DB migrations
• Drive operational efficiency through intelligent internal tooling
• Establish team processes achieving consistent high-quality software delivery
• Personally resolve majority of actionable bugs within first 6 months

Qualifications & Requirements

• 5-7 years building production software professionally
• 1-2 years people management experience with software engineers
• Deep experience with Python, Go, Rust, or equivalent modern languages
• Proven full-stack capabilities (Next.js, React, FastAPI a plus)
• Excellent organizational skills and project management expertise
• Passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing engineering talent
• Collaborative mindset with detail-oriented execution
• Gurugram-based for hybrid working model
