Key Responsibilities at MongoDB

• Strategic Synthesis & Executive Guidance: Create executive-ready narratives, eStaff memos, and decision-support materials from Market Intelligence, Win/Loss analysis, and field signals.
• High-Impact Deal Support: Partner with Sales leadership on priority deals, delivering tailored competitive positioning, objection handling, and real-time advisory.
• Threat Monitoring & Response: Rapidly assess competitor launches, pricing changes, and positioning shifts, producing immediate threat briefs and escalation reports.
• Competitive Assets Development: Build Product 360s, battlecards, and competitive playbooks explaining MongoDB wins and losses vs PostgreSQL and relational databases.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Product, PMM, and Finance to integrate CI findings into roadmap planning, GTM execution, and executive strategy.
• Analyst Relations Support: Engage Gartner and Forrester with validated competitive context and evidence-based insights for the data platform category.
• Technical Tradeoff Analysis: Expertly explain PostgreSQL B-Tree limitations, DynamoDB scaling tradeoffs, and MongoDB document model advantages to CROs and CIOs.
• Sales Enablement: Provide priority deal support and competitive positioning for MongoDB Atlas against cloud-managed relational services.
• Market Intelligence Synthesis: Monitor the database landscape including AWS RDS, Aurora, Cloud SQL, and emerging PostgreSQL-centric competitors.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 3-6+ years experience in Competitive Intelligence, Product Marketing, Strategy, Consulting, Database Administration (DBA), or Data Engineering.
• Deep PostgreSQL knowledge: Explain technical tradeoffs of PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and MongoDB without notes. Understand B-Tree limitations and relational vs NoSQL implications.
• Executive communication mastery: Structured, memo-style writing emphasizing clarity, brevity, and impact for senior leadership.
• Technical translation expertise: Translate database internals (indexing, sharding, consistency models) into business impact for non-technical stakeholders.
• Action-oriented judgment: Comfortable taking positions, defending recommendations, and moving beyond reporting to strategic implications.
• Preferred: Direct PostgreSQL experience at EDB, Crunchy Data, Timescale, Supabase, or cloud teams (AWS Aurora, Google Cloud SQL, Azure Database).
