Join Leidos as an Adolescent Support Counselor in Misawa, Japan

Leidos Performance and Readiness division seeks a dedicated Adolescent Support Counselor for the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) and Marines ASACS program at Misawa, Japan. This expatriate role supports adolescent dependents of U.S. Service members through clinical services including assessment, early intervention, and counseling for alcohol, drugs, and behavioral health risks. Prevention efforts encompass classroom education, support groups, and community campaigns. Note: Position is currently UNFUNDED; apply to be contacted upon funding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop community-based AOD prevention and treatment programs.
  • Network with military and community to identify at-risk youth.
  • Offer individual, group, and family counseling.
  • Manage intake, assessments, treatment plans, and caseloads.
  • Provide specialized AOD training and facilitate prevention groups.
  • Maintain records, ensure quality assurance, and secure referral agreements.

Qualifications

LCSW: Independent license, Master’s+ from CACREP-accredited program, 2+ years adolescent experience, recent practice, AOD certification eligibility, U.S. Citizen, driver’s license, CNACI eligible.

LPC/LMFT/Psychologist: Similar requirements with independent licensure, adolescent focus, and DHA privileging readiness. DHA references required pre-hire.

Expat Assignment Details

3-year initial term, renewable annually. Relocation provided. Must obtain U.S. military ID and MTF credentialing. Serve in DoDEA schools year-round, enhancing military family resilience abroad.

  • Direct patient care within past 2 years (peer-reviewable) (experience)
  • U.S. Citizen with valid U.S. driver’s license and CNACI eligibility (experience)
  • AOD certification possession or eligibility (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement community-based adolescent substance abuse prevention and treatment programs
  • Conduct intake, screening, assessment, and manage caseloads
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling for AOD and behavioral health issues
  • Deliver AOD training, classroom education, and facilitate prevention support groups
  • Maintain case records, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and quality assurance participation
  • Secure referral agreements with community agencies and participate in awareness campaigns
