Our Flight Systems Department seeks a talented Aerospace Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join the Threat Analysis and Modeling branch in Huntsville, AL. Tackle complex challenges in missiles, space systems, hypersonics, and flight vehicles, delivering impactful analysis to DoD stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity simulations for aerospace vehicle performance and flight dynamics.
  • Build 6-DOF, 3-DOF, and hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulations integrating aerodynamic, propulsion, and GNC models.
  • Deliver precise assessments informing DoD policy, acquisition, and warfighter decisions.
  • Create scripts, GUIs, and utilities to streamline analysis and support programs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s (2-3 years experience) or graduate degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related from ABET-accredited school.
  • Fundamental knowledge of flight dynamics, simulation, orbital mechanics, GNC; programming in MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Python.
  • Excellent technical communication; ability to work independently and in teams.
  • U.S. Citizen with active Secret clearance (eligible for Top Secret/SCI with polygraph); Huntsville, AL residency or relocation willingness.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DoD processes familiarity; advanced math (linear algebra, statistics, coordinate transforms).
  • Experience with Git/Mercurial, physics-based modeling, Simulink code-generation, GNC for flight vehicles/UAS, C++.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain simulations evaluating aerospace vehicle performance and flight dynamics
  • Create 6-DOF, 3-DOF, and HWIL simulations incorporating aerodynamics, propulsion, GNC algorithms
  • Provide accurate technical assessments to DoD policymakers, acquisition programs, warfighters
  • Develop scripts, GUIs, utilities to support analysis and programmatic efforts
  • Solve complex problems in modeling missiles, space systems, hypersonics
