Join Leidos' Airport Survey Mapping Team Supporting the FAA

Leidos is seeking a dynamic Airport Survey Mapping (ASM) Specialist to join our Aeronautical Information team on the NISC IV contract with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role is pivotal in creating and maintaining critical electronic charts for the National Airspace System (NAS), including the Chart Supplement Publication and Terminal Procedures Publication. These publications are essential tools for pilots and air traffic controllers, updated on a rigorous 56-day charting cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Master aeronautical information principles to ensure charting accuracy.
  • Analyze the National Flight Data Digest (NFDD) for data integrity.
  • Review and chart Airport Chart Change documents using specialized software.
  • Leverage Bentley MicroStation OpenCities, ESRI ArcGIS, CAD tools, and Python scripting to produce high-quality charts.
  • Examine aerial photography to validate mapping details.
  • Collaborate directly with FAA ASM team members and management for seamless project delivery.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Information, Geography, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in Bentley Systems MicroStation OpenCities.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD software.
  • Working knowledge of ESRI Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS).
  • Python programming skills for automation and data processing.
  • ESRI database management experience.
  • Eligibility for Public Trust clearance; must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
