Antarctic Facility Manager - Join Leidos in Supporting Cutting-Edge Science

Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC), prime contractor for the National Science Foundation's United States Antarctic Program (USAP), seeks a skilled Antarctic Facility Manager for the Long Duration Balloon (LDB) facility in Antarctica. This role offers a rare chance to manage a critical NSF site enabling NASA-led stratospheric research via massive helium balloons. Deployment to Antarctica is mandatory for 6 months starting late August 2026, with full-time hours mid-August to mid-February, transitioning to part-time US-based work February to August.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with LDB Science Implementation Manager for on-site facility oversight during Austral summer.
  • Coordinate setup, maintenance, winterization, and launches with NASA, fleet ops, cargo, IT, and station services.
  • Supervise one field coordinator; guide Fleet Ops and Galley personnel.
  • Facilitate payload recoveries involving aviation, field ops, and grantees; manage payload retro with science cargo teams.
  • Handle part-time off-ice planning, procurement, safety briefings, and weekly status reports.
  • Report changes and remain available for all launches, with Winfly preference.

Qualifications & What Sets You Apart
