Leidos, a leader in delivering trusted, ethical, and secure solutions for mission-critical environments, seeks a passionate Assistant General Counsel for our Global Privacy Office. This hybrid role (2-3 days onsite at Reston, VA HQ) offers hands-on involvement in privacy matters across HR, IT, contracts, and compliance teams. Advise on global data protection in a fast-paced, collaborative setting supporting highly regulated operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert counsel on privacy inquiries from diverse stakeholders.
  • Draft and negotiate privacy terms in vendor, customer, and BAA agreements.
  • Interpret complex obligations in government prime-subcontractor relationships.
  • Develop policies, training, and tools for organizational compliance.
  • Monitor global privacy laws like GDPR, CPRA, HIPAA, and emerging AI regulations.

Basic Qualifications

  • J.D. from accredited U.S. law school.
  • Virginia State Bar membership or in-house registration eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years privacy/data protection experience.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, CPRA, GDPR, UK GDPR, Australian Privacy Act.
  • Government contractor advisory experience.

  • Experience with HIPAA, CPRA, U.S. Privacy Act, state breach laws, GDPR, UK GDPR, Australian Privacy Act (experience)
  • Transactional experience with privacy terms in agreements (BAA, DPA) (experience)
  • Advising government contractors in regulated environments preferred (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Handle privacy inquiries and provide actionable legal counsel to stakeholders
  • Review, draft, and update privacy policies, procedures, and notices
  • Negotiate privacy terms in vendor, customer, data processing, and BAA agreements
  • Interpret complex contractual privacy obligations in government contracts
  • Advise on privacy program development, guidelines, training, and compliance tools
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and enforcement developments globally
  • Provide guidance on privacy in AI, data governance, and emerging regulations
