Key Responsibilities

  • Develop construction work packages for overhead (OH), underground (UG), and URD distribution systems from 4kV to 138kV, including grid hardening, substation optimization, joint use, and street lighting.
  • Perform field inspections, engineering calculations (structural pole analysis, guying, cable pulling, voltage drop, protective device coordination), and office-based design using GIS, CAD, and WMS tools.
  • Prepare permitting documents, BOMs, cost estimates, forestry requests, and support Right-of-Way acquisition under supervision.
  • Provide construction support, post-construction reviews, and root cause outage analysis using NESC principles.
  • Collaborate with substation, protection & controls, and civil structural disciplines (up to 25% travel required).

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering with 0+ years experience or BS non-engineering with <5 years relevant experience.
  • Preferred: NESC expertise, ESRI, AutoCAD/MicroStation, GIS.
  • MS Office proficiency; strong communication skills; field/outdoor work capability; personal vehicle use.

  • Perform engineering calculations including pole loading, guying, sags/tensions, voltage drop
  • Conduct site inspections, prepare permitting documents, and support construction phases
  • Comply with safety, quality, and NESC standards
  • Conduct root cause analysis of outages and develop mitigation designs
