The Missile and Aviation Solutions Division at Leidos seeks a talented Avionics Systems Engineer to deliver innovative solutions for complex defense challenges. Located in Huntsville, AL, this role supports diverse programs in strike systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, and modeling & simulation across defense, space, and cyber domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop customized Systems Engineering artifacts from DoD customer requirements, including modeling, architecture definition, interface design, and verification/validation.
- Lead avionics software/hardware design, oversee mechanical/electronics subsystems, and execute tests (ground, HIL, flight).
- Interface with program managers, military personnel, and multi-discipline teams in agile, rapid development environments.
- Build and interact with MBSE models while tailoring SE approaches for program success.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Systems/Software/Computer/Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent (ABET-accredited) with 8+ years experience; or Master’s with 6+ years.
- Expertise translating stakeholder objectives into system design visions.
- Strong defense systems background, SE requirements/test planning, software/hardware architecture.
- Hands-on test process development and execution experience.

- Model system behavior, define system architecture, dictate interfaces, perform requirements verification/validation
- Develop and execute test programs including ground, hardware-in-the-loop, and flight testing

- Support MBSE model development and agile/rapid development processes across multiple programs
