Join Leidos Defense Health Operation supporting the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory (NSMRL) in Groton, CT. NSMRL advances research on medical, psychological, and performance effects for naval personnel. As a Chemistry Technician in the Warfighter Health & Protection Department, you'll support submarine atmospheric monitoring and innovative air sampling methods.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Execute research protocols for air sampling of chemical and particulate exposure.
  • Collaborate on data analysis for reports and presentations.
  • Test, calibrate, and maintain chemical sensing equipment and lab setups.
  • Develop SOPs for safe chemical testing operations.
  • Characterize handheld, wearable, and passive gas detectors.
  • Maintain accurate logs, inventories, and ensure safety compliance.
  • Assist with technical reports, literature searches, and lab scheduling.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Chemistry or related field (0-2 years experience).
  • Research methods experience from thesis or coursework.
  • US citizenship; SECRET clearance required (preference for current holders).
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industrial hygiene or environmental sampling experience.
  • Microsoft Office and statistical software proficiency.
  • Human subject research or federal government experience.
  • Understanding of scientific principles and HIPAA compliance.

  • Maintain inventories, logbooks, and ensure lab health/safety compliance
  • Conduct literature searches and support subcontracted projects
