Chief Engineer Architect Opportunity at Leidos

Leidos is seeking a visionary Chief Engineer/Architect (CEA) to lead technical innovation on a large-scale, mission-critical program for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This future contract (pending award) focuses on developing, modernizing, and operating over 40 enterprise systems using agile DevSecOps, cloud optimization, AI/ML automation, and enhanced security/user experience. Manage a diverse portfolio including low-code/no-code apps, COTS (Salesforce, ServiceNow), ERP (SAP), and custom solutions in cloud and on-premise environments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive reusable components, patterns, and common services across solutions.
  • Analyze IT portfolio and architect cloud migrations/optimizations.
  • Champion Leidos strategy and CBP OIT roadmap to executives.
  • Innovate with AI/ML to enhance CBP mission capabilities.
  • Build agile 400+ person IT organization adhering to Agile principles.
  • Implement security for ATO and DHS/CBP compliance.
  • Lead technological advancements in IT/software operations.
  • Collaborate with teams, customers, and leadership.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's +15 years or Doctorate +13-16 years in enterprise engineering/architecture.
  • Cloud delivery experience and certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, etc.).
  • Portfolio rationalization and complex project leadership.
  • CBP Background Investigation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CBP mission expertise.
  • NIST/DHS HIGH-impact ATO experience.
  • CI/CD, DevOps tools, hybrid cloud, containers, web tech, databases.
  • Active CBP BI.

  • Active CBP Background Investigation (preferred) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate creation and reuse of ideas, components, common services, and patterns across solutions
  • Lead IT portfolio analysis, strategic planning, and cloud migration/optimization architectures
  • Represent Leidos technical strategy to stakeholders, document innovation roadmap, advocate for CBP OIT strategy
  • Define IT portfolio roadmap, introduce innovative technologies like AI/ML for mission value
  • Develop integrated agile IT organization of 400+ personnel across disciplines and companies
  • Ensure security controls for ATO and alignment with DHS/CBP architectures
  • Drive technological innovation with deep IT and software operations expertise
  • Collaborate with development teams, customers, and senior leadership
