Join Leidos as a Civil Engineer/Drafter in Fort Worth, TX

Leidos is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer/Drafter to support the FAA Central Service Area - Engineering Services Group through the National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program. Located in Fort Worth, Texas, this role supports the FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) Program, the next-generation communications platform for over 4,500 National Airspace System facilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop technical engineering packages including site-specific plans, specifications, drawings, and cost estimates for FAA projects.
  • Perform site surveys, analyze data, research state/local/federal/FAA standards, and deliver recommendations.
  • Prepare detailed trip reports with scopes of work, risk checklists, purchase requests, and project schedules within two days of completion.
  • Support all project phases: evaluate shop drawings, design proposals, and ensure contract compliance.
  • Participate in Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI), providing engineering resolutions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and develop FAA-compliant project drawings.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Civil, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering (or equivalent with 2-4+ years experience); focus on Building Envelope Design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/MicroStation and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Public Trust Clearance eligibility and up to 25% travel.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UIS facilities, NASET/NASEB, HVAC, power systems, construction techniques, HAZMAT, fire/security systems.
  • Expertise in shelters, roofing, towers, NavAids, earthwork, roads, trenching, and CWP 4.1.12.

  • Conduct site surveys, research standards/codes, and provide analysis/recommendations
  • Prepare summary trip reports including scope of work, drawings, cost estimates, and schedules
  • Provide technical support for construction/renovation projects including shop drawing reviews
  • Participate in Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI)
  • Develop project drawings per FAA standards and perform engineering feasibility studies
