Join Leidos as a Civil - Site Engineer

Leidos is seeking a talented Civil - Site Engineer to join our dynamic civil engineering team in Charlotte, NC, or other key locations including Orlando, FL; Atlanta, GA; Portland, OR; and additional sites like Hendersonville, TN; Walled Lake, MI; Framingham, MA; Denver, CO; and Chicago, IL. Hybrid or fully remote options may be available. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse electric utility projects, applying advanced technology to solve complex challenges in site/civil design for substations and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design reviews, mentor junior staff, and contribute to bids/proposals.
  • Serve as responsible engineer, ensuring quality control on design packages.
  • Handle site visits, client meetings, lunch-and-learns, and kick-offs (up to 25% travel).
  • Manage land development permitting (NPDES, stormwater), site layout, grading, drainage, and access roads.
  • Design erosion/sediment control, retaining walls, utilities; perform stormwater modeling and H&H analysis.
  • Prepare calculations, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Conduct construction observation and collaborate across disciplines.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering (4+ years experience).
  • P.E. license preferred; proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D/MicroStation, Hydraflow/ICPR.
  • Strong Microsoft Office/Bluebeam skills, analytical writing, and client communication.
  • Team-oriented, independent executor; U.S. authorized; travel-ready.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design reviews and develop junior staff
  • Contribute to bids and proposal development
  • Serve as responsible engineer on client projects with quality control oversight
  • Conduct site visits to substation facilities and occasional travel for meetings
  • Execute land development permitting including NPDES and stormwater management
  • Design site layout, grading, drainage, access roads, and retaining walls
  • Coordinate utilities and collaborate with other disciplines
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates
  • Perform stormwater modeling, erosion control, and construction observation
