Leidos is seeking a motivated Communications Systems Engineer for our Maritime programme in Farnborough, Hampshire, UK. This role offers hybrid flexibility, including work from home or customer sites based on business needs. Salary ranges from £47,600 to £61,000, with opportunities to advance in mission-critical defence communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage IP-based networks for optimal performance.
- Fault-find and resolve issues in hardware/software to ensure continuity.
- Handle stores processing, inventory, and logistics.
- Oversee manufacturing build processes and quality control.
- Collaborate with naval architects, EW specialists, and integration teams.
- Maintain detailed documentation and support maintenance/upgrades.
Required Expertise
Demonstrate knowledge in MANET, UHF/VHF, SATCOM/MILSAT, RoIP, radio crypto (Type 1/AES), FMV over radio, CCNA-level networking, WinOS/Android/hypervisors, TAK suite, and network protocols. Proficiency in diagnostic tools and technical reporting is essential.
Desirable Skills
- Personal Role Radios (PRRs) configuration/maintenance.
- RF systems knowledge, including propagation and troubleshooting.
- ATAK integration experience.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas simply.

- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues to minimize downtime
- Manage inventory, equipment tracking, and logistics for system components
- Implement build processes, configuration management and quality control
- Collaborate with naval architects, EW specialists, and systems integration teams
- Document system designs, processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps
- Assist in routine system maintenance, upgrades, and performance monitoring
- Adhere to safety protocols and organisational standards
