Join Leidos in operating the USDOT's cutting-edge Saxton Lab (STOL) in McLean, VA, focused on advancing transportation safety, mobility, and sustainability through Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) technologies. Work full-time on-site supporting vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications, Cooperative Driving Automation (CDA), and ITS innovations.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver hands-on technical support through the Saxton Lab helpdesk for tools like V2X Hub and CAV message creators.
  • Assist state/local DOTs, vendors, and researchers with deployment, troubleshooting, and adoption of CAV tech.
  • Configure and test COTS systems for traffic management, signals, and simulations.
  • Build and lead a stakeholder community of practice; drive outreach to accelerate tech transfer.
  • Collaborate on projects, from financial tracking to engineering execution.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Technical background in electrical, civil, automotive engineering, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in V2X networking, IEEE/SAE standards, and simulation tools.
  • U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship); 3+ years U.S. residency; Public Trust eligible.
  • Excellent communication for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance via Saxton Lab helpdesk for USDOT ITS/CAV tools like V2X Hub
  • Support stakeholders (academia, government, industry) in adopting CDA, C-V2X, CAV technologies
  • Troubleshoot and configure COTS hardware/software for traffic signals, management systems, vehicle guidance
  • Lead stakeholder community of practice and conduct outreach/promotion
  • Coordinate with internal team on support requests, project financials, and execution
  • Manage equipment loans, track issues, and maintain knowledge of lab products
