Job Description

Lead the Future of Navy Data Centers at Leidos

Leidos is seeking an experienced Data Center Design Lead to drive the SMIT contract—the Navy's largest IT services program. Modernize the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet by unifying networks and optimizing data management for enhanced capability and cost savings. Lead cutting-edge, scalable, energy-efficient data center infrastructure while overseeing a team of up to 10 designers, drafters, and DBAs.

Design & Technical Leadership

  • Lead comprehensive designs for electrical, mechanical, and networking systems.
  • Establish standards, best practices, and specifications.
  • Integrate innovative technologies for scalability and efficiency.
  • Approve deliverables ensuring regulatory compliance.

Project & Team Management

  • Mentor and direct multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Manage concurrent projects on time and budget.
  • Collaborate across project management, construction, and vendors.
  • Perform risk assessments and mitigation.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Oversee schematics, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Ensure timely CDRL submissions.
  • Maintain contractual and regulatory standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in STEM +5 years or Master’s +3 years experience.
  • 2+ years team/project leadership.
  • 3+ years data center design.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizen).
  • Strong PM, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP/SCRUM certifications.
  • Cloud/virtualization experience.
  • Construction/vendor management.
  • Microsoft tools and DCDDB proficiency.
  • NMCI background.

  • Lead end-to-end design of data center electrical, mechanical, and networking systems
  • Develop and enforce design standards, best practices, and specifications
  • Evaluate and integrate scalable, energy-efficient technologies
  • Manage and mentor team of up to 10 designers, drafters, and DBAs
  • Oversee multiple projects ensuring budgets, timelines, and milestones
  • Collaborate with project managers, construction, and vendors
  • Conduct risk assessments and mitigation strategies
  • Prepare and review schematics, blueprints, and CDRL documentation
