Position Overview
The Data Center System Administrator supports critical data center operations in Charlottesville, VA. You'll rack and stack equipment, manage upgrades and consolidations, ensure power redundancy during failures, and provide general system administration in a hybrid cloud environment. Work in a collaborative team to meet 24/7/365 mission needs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Employ rack redundancy, power rails, cold/hot aisle containment, fire suppression, security, and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and maintain servers, isolating user issues rapidly.
- Coordinate with stakeholders for incident resolution and requirements analysis.
- Develop solutions for complex issues and deliver root cause reports.
- Provide 24/7 support, including after-hours emergency response for power/cooling disruptions.
- Update documentation and mentor junior staff.
- Support broader infrastructure teams based on expertise.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Data center experience with standards and best practices.
- Power infrastructure knowledge from generation to rack.
- Tier 2 sysadmin experience in dynamic environments.
- ITSM tools (ServiceNow/Remedy), customer service, team collaboration.
- BS + 4 years or MS + 2 years experience; DoDM 8140.03 certification; TS/SCI with poly.

- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph or willingness to obtain (experience)
- US Citizenship required (experience)
- Experience in data centers, Tier 2 system administration, and hybrid cloud-hosting (experience)
