Leidos National Security Sector delivers technology-enabled services in cyber, logistics, security operations, and decision analytics to defend against evolving global threats. Our Intelligence Production Solutions Division (IPSD) seeks a Data Scientist Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Chinook program in Gaithersburg, MD (primary), with options in Alexandria/Chantilly, VA; Aurora, CO; St. Louis, MO.
Lead Mission-Critical Intelligence Projects
As SME, apply expertise in data science, machine learning, AI, and geospatial analytics to solve high-stakes national security challenges. Provide strategic leadership, hands-on model development, and stakeholder collaboration for GEOINT missions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as SME for data science and geospatial analytics on complex GEOINT problems.
- Design ML/AI models for multi-source geospatial data (satellite imagery, sensors).
- Leverage GEOINT, remote sensing, spatial analysis for data-driven decisions.
- Recommend emerging tech (ML, AI, cloud) to optimize workflows.
- Mentor juniors; collaborate with analysts, engineers, stakeholders.
- Research innovative techniques like deep/reinforcement learning.
- Deploy scalable models delivering actionable insights.
- Document models for reproducibility and training.
Basic Qualifications
- US citizenship; Top Secret/SCI eligible + Polygraph.
- Bachelor’s +12-15 years, Master’s +10-13 years, or Doctorate in relevant field.
- 10+ years data science; 5+ years GEOINT/geospatial.
- ML/AI expertise in geospatial contexts; Python proficiency (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
- Big data tools (Spark, Hadoop, AWS/Azure); geospatial formats/libraries.
