This critical role supports and maintains an IT service management tool (ServiceNow) for a large organization, focusing on MariaDB databases. You will ensure database stability, security, performance, and high availability while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This position requires daily in-office presence and eligibility for DV security clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain MariaDB databases for optimal performance.
- Implement backups, disaster recovery, and high availability failover.
- Monitor performance, tune queries, and manage capacity planning.
- Troubleshoot incidents and apply patches/upgrades.
- Automate tasks with SQL, Bash, or Python scripting.
- Integrate logs with SIEM for security compliance.
- Maintain documentation and support testing teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven DBA experience with MariaDB/MySQL expertise.
- Backup/recovery, tuning, and optimization knowledge.
- Familiarity with ITSM (ServiceNow), ITIL, and Agile.
- Strong networking, analytical, and communication skills.
Desirable Skills
- Security frameworks (CIS, ISO 27001).
- High availability clustering and virtualization.
- Automated patch management and ServiceNow experience.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for MariaDB databases ensuring optimal performance and availability
- Implement regular backups and disaster recovery procedures
- Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize database efficiency
- Troubleshoot incidents, manage problems, and minimize downtime
- Conduct capacity planning and forecast storage/performance needs
- Plan and execute database upgrades and patch management
- Configure database logs for SIEM integration and security compliance
- Maintain high availability, failover, and failback procedures
- Develop automation scripts in SQL, Bash, or Python
- Document processes and support testing/validation
