Lead Transformative Transmission Projects at Leidos
Leidos seeks a Director of EPC Transmission Line Engineering to lead dynamic teams in fast-paced electric transmission challenges. Serve as Lead Engineer and SME on overhead/underground systems for major utilities via EPC and Design-Build projects. Collaborate with contractors on value-engineered solutions across planning, engineering, permitting, and construction.
Core Leadership Responsibilities
- Direct multi-team execution of complex transmission programs
- Build high-performing HV transmission line teams through coaching
- Drive RFP responses, scope definition, and new business capture
- Oversee staff supervision, performance reviews, and recruiting
- Champion quality control and process innovation
Required Expertise
Bachelor’s in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (Civil preferred), 12+ years transmission design (PE licensed), proven 500kV leadership, PLS-CADD proficiency, field construction experience, and client-facing communication skills. Passion for mentoring essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years supervising staff
- M.S. in Structural Engineering
- Experience with LPILE, FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS
This remote US-based role reports to VP of EPC Solutions, offering growth in a technology-focused leader serving 50+ utilities. Foster team culture, solve complex issues, and drive client success. Periodic travel possible.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (Civil preferred) (experience)
- 12+ years experience in electric utility transmission systems design (10+ with Master’s) (experience)
- Professional Engineer (PE) License (experience)
- Lead engineer on 500kV and below high voltage transmission lines including greenfield (experience)
- Field experience with transmission line construction contractors (experience)
- Expertise in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and TOWER (experience)
- Track record of outstanding client communication (experience)
- Business acumen with project performance metrics experience (experience)
Responsibilities

- Develop and grow high voltage transmission line engineering team through training and mentoring
- Create RFP, RFI, RFQ responses and define project scopes
- Supervise staff including timesheets, performance reviews, and workload planning
- Drive quality control and continuous improvement in processes and tools
- Liaise with clients for business development and long-term relationships
- Participate in EPC Solutions leadership team
- Delegate tasks, forecast workloads, and lead recruiting for growth
- Foster creative problem-solving for complex transmission challenges
